Grand Opening Thursday: Grey Hawk Bar & Gardens, New Wine and Cocktail Bar in Lake Lure, NC

Wine and cocktail bar, featuring beautiful outdoor space in the heart of Lake Lure, marks the start of Opening Weekend on August 31 with an event featuring live entertainment.

LAKE LURE, NC – This week marks the opening of Grey Hawk Bar & Gardens, a new wine & cocktail bar and entertainment venue in the heart of Lake Lure, NC. With a menu featuring fun, shareable culinary boards; garden-fresh soups and salads; and an extensive cocktail, beer, and wine list; Grey Hawk Bar & Gardens is poised to delight local residents and the many tourists who seek out Lake Lure as a favorite leisure destination.

Grey Hawk Bar & Gardens will open its doors for the first time on August 31 from 5:30-10pm at 111 Resort Lane, Lake Lure, NC 28746. The Grand Opening event will feature live entertainment – including local band Broad River Jam, musical duo Jeff Baker & Brandon Townsend; and a belly dance performance from Emily June. Press should RSVP at info@greyhawklakelure.com

The venue is the latest project from George Carter and Byron Greiner, colleagues at Dwell Realty Group. In June 2023 Carter and Greiner opened Dwell Realty Group at Lake Lure, an expansion of the successful downtown Asheville real estate firm. The realty office – adjacent to the new wine and cocktail bar – has marked a revitalization of Willowbrook Properties, which operated as a campground in the 1970s. Grey Hawk Bar & Gardens features an extensive property overhaul and remodel – including 1,000 new plants, hundreds of reclaimed limestone bricks donated by the Lake Lure Inn & Spa, and a brand new hand-made fountain designed and poured by Carter and his team.

George Carter, Founding Partner of Grey Hawk Bar & Gardens, said today:

“I love living in Lake Lure, and I’m so grateful for this opportunity to create a gathering place where the community can get to know each other and share memories over food and drink. I was once told that luxury is nothing more than a feeling – and my goal with Grey Hawk is to use the skills and lessons I’ve learned over two decades in the service industry to invite everyone to experience that feeling of luxury. It’s been an honor to build something brand new – from the ground up – and I can’t wait to share it.”

Carter has more than 20 years of experience in hospitality and food service, including private estate management, restaurant operations, and business redevelopment consulting. Grey Hawk Bar & Gardens is his first from-scratch restaurant venture. He makes his home in Lake Lure and over the past five years has helped countless residents plant their roots in the area through his work as a real estate broker.

Byron Greiner spent 25 years in the food brokerage business as a former Senior Vice President of Advantage Sales & Marketing, one of the largest food brokers in the county. He is a former Downtown Asheville restaurant owner and splits his time between Lake Lure and the Beaverdam community in Asheville. Byron has been active in many non-profits, such as the Grove Arcade Foundation and is the former president of the Grove Arcade Merchants Association. In addition, Byron has been a member of the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce and past president of the Asheville Downtown Association, and he co-founded the Asheville Independent Restaurant Association in 2003.

The project was also made possible by the generosity and diligence of George & Hope Wittmer, Tiffany Holland, Richard Bickel, Tabitha Young, Adam Polaski, and Tamera & Tom Ownby – as well as dozens of friends and family who have volunteered their time ahead of launch.
