Server’s Assistant / Barista
Full-Time Seasonal • 30-40 hrs per week
This position is a dual role with approximately 23 hours per week in our Coffee House as a barista and 14 hours per week as a server’a assistant.
As a barista you will be required to interact with customers in a communicative, pleasant, and helpful manner, answering menu questions, offering suggestions, and employing exceptional salesmanship to both maximize revenue and ensure guest satisfaction. Additionally, you will make coffee, espresso, espresso drinks, froth milk, make smoothies and frappes, handle, inventory, and serve patties and retail snacks. You will handle cash, use a digital point of sale system, run completed orders to the corresponding guest tables, and be expected to open, close, clean, deep clean, stock, and more.
As a server’s assistant you will be assigned to one or more servers to handle all aspect of table service in concert with your supervising server. Duties will include, but not be limited to; promptly greeting guests, providing guests with ice water, collecting/garnishing food and beverage, expediting food and beverage, running food and beverage to your guests, bussing and clearing table, problems solving and handling guest satisfaction concerns, ringing in orders, cashing out guests, replenishing ice bins, changing trash cans, making trash runs, full opening/closing and side work responsibilities. The server(s) you are assigned to will share their tips with you in a monitored performance-based tip-out.
14 hours as Server’s Assistant, 23 hours as Barista
Mondays: Barista 7:45am-3:30pm
Fridays: Server’s Assistant 4:00pm-11:00pm/Close
Saturdays: Barista 7:45am-3:30pm then Server’s Assistant 4:00pm-11:00pm/close
Sundays: Barista 7:45am-4:30pm
Tuesdays–Thursdays: OFF
Qualifications:
Superb customer service skills & heightened attention to detail
Focused and serious about work
Minimum of 2 years Experience in food and beverage service
Knowledge of beer, wine, cocktails, liquor
Some experience and knowledge of espresso drinks
Willingness to learn and ability to retain product knowledge and job-related techniques and skills
